A strong showing of just over 100-head kept Warren focussed in steadily rising temperatures through the afternoon. The heat in the ring did not let up as strong mature in-milk classes kept the modest-sized crowd entertained. One of International Dairy Week's class winners, Brunchilli Extreme Rose 2 (sired by Piedmont Nadine Extreme) who is owned by Patrick Buckley cut a impressive profile in the five to six years in-milk.

But she had to be content with third behind the eventual reserve champion cow, owned by the Wilson family. The Wilsons had a super day, winning junior, intermediate and reserve champion cow.

Champion cow was a homebred entry from the well-performed Brunchilli stable. Brunchili Marcia, sired byBrunchilli PMI Impact won the aged cow class. Warren was clear what he was looking for.

"I've gone for this super balanced cow. She has so much style, she's full of milk and she just has terrific balance and breed character. I give her an advantage today because she's cleaner through the shoulder and neck and her udder is glued on."

One of the highlights for the future of the breed was the entry of Paul Timbs, Cherrybank Jokers Lassie, sired byClaydon Park Joker. It was the first time Paul had showed in the Jersey show and he won honourable mention champion cow after finishing second to the champion cow in the aged cow class.
