2008 Brisbane Royal
For the first time in the history of the Brisbane Royal a Brown Swiss exponent has won supreme champion dairy cow after the final day of judging. This year's show included 32 Ayrshire entries, 27 Brown Swiss, 16 Guernseys, 47 Holsteins, 92 Illawarras and 105 Jerseys. It contributed to a total number of 319 animals - up from 296 last year. Holstein judging on the first day finished after dark. The Guernsey classes featured some outstanding exhibits and the Illawarra champion was the maternal sister to this year's International Dairy Week champion, Panorama Angeline 8. Her maternal sister, Angeline 9 was bred and exhibited by Keith and Annette Dorries. The biggest classes of the day were reserved for the Jerseys and the Illawarras. More comprehensive coverage will be carried in the next edition of CrazyCow In Print due out mid-September.
